The return was fast and efficient.
I was not very happy with my rental. I had rented what was listed as a Dodge Caravan or similar and received a Dodge Journey. We had 5 people going 8 hours to Chicago and evryone was cramped inside. We had to make many stops to get out and stretch. How Dodge considers the Journey to be 7 passenger is amazing to me. Even kids would be uncomfortable. Though it is not Dodges fault but the rental car company for offering was is much smaller than the mini van I thought I was getting. The radio antenna was also missing from the top of the vehicle so we couldn't listen to music to take away our pain. When I returned the car they said its pretty much pot luck on what you get vehicle (SIMILAR) wise.
Friendly staff - even with pre-Christmas rush. My size rental group had no cars available - staff immediately suggested upgrade. Pittsburgh airport is great, I only had one person ahead of me inside airport @ Alamo counter; cars are in garage immediately across street from baggage claim, so was out of the airport and on my way in no time at all. Same with check-in. Easy signs to find Alamo return, another friendly, efficient person ready to scan me out, reminded me to get chargers, personal items, send me into airport. Less than 10 min ready to check bag and head to security. Great price, too. My car was low mileage, perfectly clean. I rent from Alamo in Pittsburgh a couple times a year; never had a negative experience with staff or vehicle.
The process of getting the car was the worst experience I have ever had, and I travel often. There was one attendant in the booth in the garage checking out cars. I had to stand in a line of cars to get to the attendant. Once I got there I presented my paperwork and was told pick any car. I had reserved and paid for a luxury vehicle , people that had reserved compacts were taking the luxury cars because they were told take any car by the attendant, they thought it was great , all the premium cars were gone. There were 2 Cadillacs in the checkout line with one person in them, which Is what I had reserved. I ended up in a compact SUV. I was offered a mustang convertible, I had 3 people and six pieces of luggage, clueless.
This Alamo team is extremely friendly and helpful. I had a perfect rental experience, with the exception of realizing the gas was 55miles more full when I returned it then when I was leaving with it. Maybe a product of them being nice and not charging whoever brought it back at "full" before me. I will definitely rent from this Alamo again if the rates are as great as this time.
Check in line was long and could have used more people staffing the counter.
Great service, prices usually beat the competitors which is why I rent from them once to twice a month. However, there's usually almost something wrong with the car, whether it be filthy or messages going off the entire trip that the car is overdue for an oil change. Would give 5 stars if they cleaned the cars a bit better!
